Losing a loved one can be one of the most difficult and emotional experiences that any of us can face. At our GP surgery, we understand the impact that bereavement can have on our patients and their families, and we are here to support you during this difficult time.

Our healthcare professionals are here to provide you with the emotional support and practical advice that you need to cope with your bereavement. We can offer guidance on how to manage your emotions, maintain your physical and mental health, and access support networks such as bereavement counselling.

We understand that everyone's experience of bereavement is unique, and we will work with you to create a personalised care plan that meets your specific needs. This may involve regular appointments with one of our healthcare professionals, referrals to other support services, or simply a listening ear when you need it.

If your loved one has been seen by one of our GP’s/Clinicians within 2 weeks of their passing, please collect their death certificate at the practice and take this directly to your chosen funeral director.

When losing a loved one, you don’t have to struggle and cope with this alone. We have great services of counselling and bereavement advice that could help you during this process:

• Marie Curie Liverpool – If your loved one has been cared for by a hospice and had specialist palliative care, their services do not stop once your loved one has passed. They offer a great service of counselling up to 1 year of death. All you need to do is call 0151 801 1400.
• Liverpool Bereavement Service – They are located on the 1st floor of Granite Buildings, 6 Stanley Street, L1 6AF and are specialised in both Adult and Child bereavement counselling. You can enquire about their services and whether this is for you at enquiries@liverpoolbereavement.co.uk or call them on 0151 236 3932.
• Listening Ear – They specialise in both Adult and Children counselling services 6 months from your loved ones passing. If you are registered with our practice, you can call the surgery and we would be more than happy to refer you and/or your family and friends to this service. If you are not a patient at our practice, you can also refer yourself into their service via their website – www.listening-ear.co.uk or call 0151 488 6648.
• Cruse Bereavement Care Helpline – 08088081677 – If you decide you would like to talk to someone, and it has only been a short time since your loss, you can call this line and receive the help you need.
• If none of the above counselling services suit your needs, please be aware that our surgery door is always open for you to come in and have a chat. Our phone lines are also open, if you are not yet ready for a face-to-face chat – 0151 244 4550.
